Kids with a need for speed and a penchant for the atypical can register for two Canadian Luge Association recruitment camps running July 20 and September 21.

The CLA hopes to show 10-14 year olds the fun and skills involved in taking gravity lying down. Although it may seem scary lying back for teh first time and barreling down feet-first, the athletes quicly grow accustomed to the sport's intricacies. The track has 16 levels and the newbies will start low on about the 11th level.

Kids should come to the three-hour session prepared with a bike or ski helmet, long pants (no jeans) long sleeve shirt (no hoodies) thin gloves, shorts, tee-shirt, old runners to take abuse and good runners, a  water bottle and lunch.

The cost is $25 per session.
